Our Work: Empowering Communities to Protect New Brunswick
The New Brunswick Invasive Species Council (NBISC) is a provincial, non-profit organization that brings people and organizations together to help prevent the introduction and spread of invasive species. We work collaboratively with governments, municipalities, environmental organizations, industry, researchers, Indigenous communities, recreational groups, and community members to protect New Brunswick's ecosystems, economy, and quality of life.
Our Mission
Working to protect New Brunswick’s environmental, economic, and recreational interests from the threat of invasive species.
Our Goals
To build capacity for invasive species prevention and management across New Brunswick.
To engage and empower New Brunswickers to help prevent the introduction and spread of invasive species.
We Aim To Achieve Our Goals By:
Enhancing collaboration and coordinating invasive species prevention and management efforts across New Brunswick.
Raising awareness about invasive species and their impacts through education, outreach, social media, and community engagement.
Supporting environmental organizations and partners by building capacity, sharing knowledge, and improving access to practical tools, resources, and information to help prevent and manage invasive species.
Working with communities and priority audiences to reduce the introduction and spread of invasive species through behaviour change programs and outreach initiatives.
Supporting the development of monitoring, mapping, and coordinated response approaches to emerging invasive species threats.
While NBISC does not perform physical removals or field eradication, we serve as a vital link between everyday outdoor enthusiasts, local watershed groups, researchers, and government partners—equipping communities with the tools and reporting systems needed to safeguard our natural heritage.
